Abstract

Problem setting. Legal services market in Ukraine becomes more competitive. This requires new approaches to the management of law firm (LF), namely competition management.
Recent research and publication analysis. Problems of management in the legal field have been researched in scientific papers of economists of the Yaroslav Mudryi National Law University. However, there is a lack of scientific publications on competition management of law firm.
Paper objective. The article’s purpose is to reveal the content of the concept of competition management and analyze the possibility of its introduction in the LFs in Ukraine.
Paper main body. Competition management is a management of organization in a competition that is growing. In a narrow sense, we explore the management of firm’s competitiveness, which is based on the anticipation of competitive hazards, analysis of the competitive situations and market position of the company and its competitors, the development of measures to reduce the negative effects of competition and the use of the mechanism of competition for sustainable economic development of company.
The author analyzes the features of competition subjects in the legal business, proves the need and formulates the tasks of competition management according to stages of LF’s life cycle. Thus, LF provides its competitive advantage at the stages of creation and establishment; LF goes into competitiveness at stage of rise; LF reaches competitive sustainabilityat the stage of maturity; LF loses its dynamism and needs of the competitive transformation at the stage of recession.
Conclusion of the research. Competition management of LF can be effective as part of strategic management. LF is able to: correctly position itself in the market of legal services; develop effective strategies for the development and implementation of competitive advantages; form a system of competitive security to protect its vital economic interests, prevent competitive threats and risks.
Short Abstract for an article
Abstract. The content of competition management is exposed. The necessity and the ultimate goal of a competition management are reasonable. The features and the main stages of a competition management by law firm are described. The interrelation of competition management and strategic management by law firm is educed.
