Abstract

 Problem setting. Research of human collaboration in network communities of the World Wide Web is of considerable importance. Nevertheless, it hasn’t been sufficiently examined yet.
Recent research and publications analysis. Nowadays, the wikinomics analysis is, mainly, at the level of primary generalization of the collaboration experience in the cyberspace.
Paper objective. The article objective is to substantiate peculiarities of institutionalization of human collaboration through the Internet.
Paper main body. According to the technology and nature of functioning, there are significant differences between the wikinomics and the traditional market economy: global nature; creativity; networks and direct connection between equal participators; confidence and self-organizing; the significant role of non-economic regulators; retrenchment of transactional expenses. These differences stipulate particular specificity of the institutionalization of mass collaboration as a process of determination, establishment, and
expansion of certain rules and norms, which are inherent to its formal and informal as well as external and internal participators. A conflict between the wikinomics internal rules and the norms of public legal regulation of a certain country’s national economy causes risks for its participators as well as business entities in general.
Conclusions of the research. Legitimization and public control over mass collaboration of a large amount of persons through the Internet are important directions of overcoming the institutional conflict.
